End Times Questions:Will May 21, 2011 Be the Beginning of the End of Days?


While the mainstream media promotes sports games and singing competitions that search for the next American to idolize, alternative media sources are reporting that a California tele-preacher is spending millions promoting the apocalypse, spreading their ominous end times predictions about world destruction occurring on the calculated due date, May 21, 2011. This date is supposed to mark the beginning of the end of days, which is said to be revealed first in New Zealand. Christians have been preparing for the rapture for years, but according to doomsday preacher Harold Camping, today is judgement day - the day that the rapture begins. As for those left behind, they would be subject to hell on earth until October 2011. Well not all earth-dwellers are believers of this interesting predictions, and some even question what the Camping's followers will do if they aren't taken.

Countries Look to Robot Armies for Border Defense

Several countries, including the United States are turning to robot technology to protect their borders. Not only will unmanned vehicles and aircraft to patrol the borders, but also to shoot at people crossing borders illegally. These drones will often operate without human intervention, killing intruders on land, from the air, or even in coastal waters using unmanned patrol boats. So far, the technology is in place in the United States, the European Union, South Korea, Iran and Israel.

Strange Verticle Lights Over Xiamen in Southeast China Being Dubbed "Rain of Luminous Beams"

News reports recently surfaced of "luminous beams" or vertical lights suspended in the sky over Xiamen, in southeastern China. There were no reports of a meteor shower, confirmed or otherwise, and meteorologists were unaware of the occurrence. Odd Whirled: Sinkhole in Guatemala

So I was thinking about how the first post of this blog should start off - knowing that someday this post will be buried at the very bottom of a long list of hopefully very interesting and odd stories, events and phenomena occurring in our strange world. I began to think of current events, and whether anything odd had happened recently... and then I remembered the giant sinkhole in Guatemala.
